1st time nifty closed above 9000, Sensex up 496 points on BJP's emphatic UP victory

On Tuesday after a long time, the market staged spectacular rally with the Nifty close above 9000 level for the 1st time on hopes of BJP extend reform agenda following emphatic victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. 


The 30-share BSE Sensex surged 615.7 pts intraday but failed to hit its record high of 30,024.74 touched on Mar 4, 2015. It close up 496.40 points or 1.71 % at 29,442.63, the highest level in last two years.

The 50-share NSE Nifty hit an intraday all-time high of 9,122.75 and stayed above psychological 9,000-mark throughout the session. It was up 152.45 points or 1.71 % to end at 9,087, backed by banks, FMCG and infra stocks.
